Zion Chapel is located in Ryde on the Isle of Wight and has been established since 1853. Zion Chapel in William Street was originally built as a Free Wesleyan 'preaching house' by William Shakleton the elder, on what was originally land designated 'Swanmore Close'.

The name ZION (from 'Jerusalem') much referred to in the Old Testament and particularly in the Psalms, has no doctrinally 'Jewish' significance as might be supposed (e.g. 'Zionists'). Zion Chapel has recently been expanded to incorporate a new Sunday Club for children aged between 5 and 11.

Zion Chapel is a middle of the road church between the traditional and modern style of worship and the regular Sunday music comprises a pianist, violinist and flautist but the praise and worship is normally uplifting and joyful. Our Pastor is Clive Screen, who originates from Wales, where he served in the Ministry and as a well respected pastor amongst the miners and lorry drivers.

Today, Trustees continue to oversee the Chapel building and it's ministry, and preachers from many Christian disciplines occupy the pulpit Sunday by Sunday. The Thursday 'Women's Bright Hour, formed in 1951 by Beryl Shackleton and emanating from her 'sewing circle' still welcomes the ladies.
